As Ourea were the ancient primordial gods of the mountains, it is the perfect name for the property situated among hills, with an amazing view of one of the most charming locations on the island of Hvar, Velo Grablje.
Villa Features
Villa Ourea is a patiently and perfectly renovated complex consisting of two authentic Mediterranean stone houses (a larger and a smaller one) dating back to the 18th century. During the final renovation in 2021, the owners respected tradition, but spared nothing on comfort, technology, and contemporary pieces of furniture. The property is located in Velo Grablje, one of the most beautiful and romantic villages on the island of Hvar, if you ask us. We know that you are interested in how far you will be from civilization if you rent Villa Ourea. Velo Grablje is approximately a 5-minute drive from the first beach and grocery store in Milna and a 10-minute drive from the Hvar town center.
Excellent news is that you have 3 exceptional restaurants nearby – in the village of Velo Grablje you’ll find konoba Zbondini, where you can eat (apart from all other gastronomic wonders) a yummy lavender cake; above the village there is restaurant Alavia with an amazing view, and in the next village of Malo Grablje you’ll find restaurant Stori Komin, absolutely worth the visit. So, hungry in villa Ourea you surely will not be. However, you will need 5 minutes to reach the first shop in case you need any groceries. We remind you that you can order any groceries to wait for you upon arrival – just contact our concierge at [email protected] and voilà! Also, let’s not forget the Chef service, which you can order with us in advance so you can enjoy different delicacies in the privacy of your villa.
Now that we have resolved the food part, since food is very important for an amazing holiday experience (or at least we think so), we can proceed with specific details about this amazing villa we have been fortunate enough to include in Villas Hvar collection in 2023.
Ourea is the perfect property for 8 people, whether you come as friends, couples or family, old or young, since age is just a number in our universe. If you are young and playful, let us know this fact as the owner has to take care that you respect the house rules, despite the fact you are full of energy.
The property of Ourea consists of a large and a small house. The interior spans across 220 m2, whereas the plot size is 350 m2.
On the ground floor of the large house there is a wellness area: a sauna and a stone shower. On the right side of the ground floor you’ll find the first room with a matrimonial bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub.
On the left side of the ground floor, you will find 15 stairs leading to the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the first floor. A detail we particularly like in this space is the table and chairs from our favorite Croatian brand Prostoria. There are also two large sofas and a smart TV. To the left, there is the kitchen area and the auxiliary toilet.
From the space on the first floor of the large house you can exit to a wonderful stone terrace with an outdoor dining table and chairs for eight people, a swimming pool with a counter-current system (and heating if necessary) surrounded by deck chairs, a beautiful old well, but also a wonderful view of the green village hills, stone houses, and the blue sky and sea in the distance. There is an equally wonderful view from the living room on the first floor of the large house. At times, it might seem as if you are not on summer vacation, but on a movie screen. This is a completely normal side effect of staying at Villa Ourea.
In the space above the outdoor dining table, there is a fireplace and a storage room with a washing machine, dryer, and ironing equipment, just in case.
If we continue up the outdoor stairs, we reach the smaller house. It has a living room and a kitchen with a dining room on the ground floor, and 13 stairs up to the first floor, you will find a bedroom with a matrimonial bed and a bathroom with a shower tray. In front of the smaller house there is a charming seating area for two, perfect for a coffee, a kiss, or a light snack outdoors.
If we now return to the large house and climb up the 15 stairs to the second floor, we will find two more bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower tray, and a balcony that is so large that we can call it a terrace, with a table and two comfortable chill outdoor chairs and a view of the smaller house. This is a space where you can separate yourself and, for example, drink a cocktail in peace in the evening before going out.
Villa Ourea is anything but a boring property. The fusion of old and new creates harmony; the space does not shy away from details and colors, and yet everything is in moderation and good taste. We appreciate the way the space is arranged and the choice of natural materials (stone, wood, and iron) more than anything because it tells a story of love for tradition and ancestors, but also for nature, the ambiance of the village to which the owners decided to give their personal stamp with this property. A lovely detail: the headboards of the two double beds in the villa are handmade from old headboards that the owners found in the house.
This property tells us a warm, tender, and very personal Hvar story that we are happy to share with you. Somehow (don't ask us how), we know that a holiday in this villa will be like all great loves at first sight.
